Max Factor’s Colour Effect Range

Summer makeup is all about crazy-vibrant colours you just can’t wear in winter: festivals allow you to really experiment and show your true colours. Max Factor has stepped up and created a whole new range all about using maximum colour for maximum impact – just for summer 2010: Max Colour Effect.

Max Factor say: “Max Colour Effect is Max Factor’s boldest collection of colours. All shades are strikingly beautiful and offer endless possibilities to push the boundaries and recreate colourful looks everyday.

To be honest, I’m not too fussed about looking strikingly beautiful or pushing boundaries, but by making a statement with your makeup you don’t have to worry about your hair or outfit as much… Perfect festival wear, methinks.

Max Effect Trio Eye Shadows – £6.49

This handy pallet is nice and compact, and comes in 6 combinations including Over the Ocean and Sweet Pink – both pretty self-explanatory names…

Max Effect Lip Gloss – £4.99

The gloss provides a ‘dazzling shine’ and comes in 12 shades – each with their own flavour! Mmm… So we will have a balanced diet this summer. Plus, it has a non-stick formula.

Max Effect Dip-In Eye shadows – £5.99

These powder eyeshadows come with a sponge applicator and are great for adding a splash of colour due to their high pearl and colour pigments.

Max Effect Mini Nail Polishes – £3.49

Long lasting and chip resistant, this nail polish will survive all the horrors we put our hands through every Summer, and anyway, the bottle is small enough to carry round for a quick touch up.

Benefit’s New Crescent Row Perfume Collection

So everyone saw the amazing first range of Benefit Crescent Row Perfumes, My place or yours Gina, Something about Sofia, and my personal favourite, Laugh with me Lee Lee. As usual they not only smelt beautiful, they looked amazing aswell. Benefit is known for it’s quirky and fun packaging, part of the reason I have become such a Benefit-whore, I can’t resist it if it looks nice. But recently I have been on the hunt for a perfume with Vanilla tones, and as is by magic, Benefit make one, So Hooked on Carmella. It has lemon, grapefruit and rhubarb top notes, cyclamen, peony and tiare flower middle notes and vanilla, sandalwood and amber bottom notes. Phew. So it’s floral-y and vanilla-y, which create a nice balance so it’s not too sickly and over-powering.

Garden if Good and Eva the citrus-y and flowery one. The packaging speaks for itself. It’s described as crisp and fresh, and has notes of pear, watermelon, rosebud, jasmine, freesia, musk and cedar wood. It’s fresh but with some smooth and soft bottom notes which make it refreshingly crisp yet warm. The more summery of the three and perfect for a warm summer day.

Lookin’ to Rock Rita is definitley the brighter, more fun fragrance out of all three. It reminds me of holidays and the caribbean, with notes of lemon, coconut, juicy fig, brazilian rosewood and hyacinth. I especially love Rita’s ‘house’, its stuffed with clothes and boxes and shoes, its the liveliest of the bunch for sure. For summer, I’d recommend this one, but considering we live in England, the weather could turn at any moment, and then I would say go for Carmella.

Happy smelling

Dannii’s Hair

I have to admit, my curosity as to what Dannii can possibly do with her hair each show has been a big reason for wasting my Saturday (and Sunday) on the sofa watching X-Factor.

Here are a few of my favourite styles: (really, I want to know what hair mousse she uses…)

TESTED: the Toothpaste Myth

There is a myth – yes, a myth – that smothering spots in toothpaste before going to bed makes them dissapear.

This is not true.

It merely leaves you with sticky cheeks in the morning and a pillow smeared with toothpaste.

Plus you look rather silly when you go down for breakfast in the morning and you can’t work out why everyone is laughing at you until you look in the mirror and see white splodges on your cheeks.

Feel free to try it out – if it works for you please email moblog@hotmail.co.uk and tell me what brand of toothpaste you used!

Mmmm.Facemasks.

Thursday evening, rainy old England, bored.

Lightbulb moment!

FACEMASKS.

So heres a selection of my favourites:

Banana and Honey
Mash up a banana  and mix it with a teaspoon of honey and 2 teaspoons of yoghurt and apply it on the face. Leave it on the face till the skin absorbs it thoroughly and dries completely on the face and then rinse it off with cold water.

Cucumber and Yoghurt

Mash up ½ a cucumber and 1 tablespoon of yoghurt in a blender and apply it on the face evenly. Leave it on the face for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off with cold water.

Apple and Honey

Take a nicely ripe 1/4 apple and mash it with a fork and add a teaspoon of oatmeal and a teaspoon honey to it and apply it on the face and leave it on till the mixture dries on the face thoroughly and then rinse it off with ordinary water. Noice in the winter.

Enjoy and leave a comment to say how it goes 🙂
