Sam Ubhi

Jewellery is the easiest way to liven up an outfit – this spring, just shove a statement necklace on top of a simple top and high-waisted skirt and you’re ready to go!

At London Fashion Week, Sam Ubhi’s rustic-style work particularly caught my attention:

Here are a few similar looking pieces from the high-street:

Michael Van Der Ham

So, as I have said before, we saw lots of new designers at LFW, but, with his bright designs and quirky prints, my eye was caught by Dutch designer, Michael Van Der Ham.

Michael graduated from prestigous Art and Design college Central Saint Martins, and is relatively new on the fashion circuit. He describes his signature style as “I like to mismatch different references in each item of clothing. My autumn/winter 2010 collection is a juxtaposition of elements from different decades in fashion. I made each dress like a 3D collage of clashing colours, textures, weights of fabric and cut.” (quote from LFW.co.uk)

Here are a few of his catwalk designs:

MiH Jeans

Thank you to Susan Wylie for showing us around the MiH collection!

I was very impressed with MiH jeans at London Fashion Week. The soft fabrics and varying styles really make Made in Heaven jeans the best around. Ok, so they may be a little outside of our price range, but they are worn by the likes of Rhianna and Leighton Meester, and hey – we all need something to aspire to!

MiH also do jersey and shirt wear, and they have some pretty groovy American Apparel style t-shirts as well  as woolly, cosy shirts that look (and feel) perfect for British winters.

Go to http://www.mih-jeans.com to see for yourself, but the 2010-11 A/W collection which we saw at London Fashion Week isn’t up there quite yet.

A Visit To London Fashion Week……

So as you’ve probably read from M’s last post, we took a lovely visit to London Fashion Week and we were lucky enough to catch the Caroline Charles catwalk show and take a look at all the up and coming designers showing off their new collections in the Exhibiton rooms. We’ll be posting about all the designers that caught our eye in the next few days…

So here are a few pictures of our visit and a couple of pictures from the show:

London Fashion Week Opening Day

London Fashion WeekDespite the sadness of Alexander McQueen’s death, this year’s London Fashion Week is sure to be amazing. It is well worth popping in to Somerset House even if just to soak up the atmosphere and grab a hot-chocolate from the Topshop van (you get a free handwarmer too..!).

If you can’t make it, visit http://www.londonfashionweek.co.uk/ to get all the latest news and watch all the most important catwalks from your bedroom.

We’ll continue to make posts on our favourite pieces and brands from the ready-to-wear section, and the ones that we think are the most wearable statement pieces as well as putting up our own photos from our visit to London Fashion  Week’s opening day!
